Compensated lenses
Compensated lenses are generated using digital surfacing equipment to create a lens that best matches the prescribed prescription but as worn on the patient. The prescription is not changed, the lens design is changed so it fills the prescription in the most accurate way!
*Personalized measurements from the frame are used in the calculation, either as taken by the optician/dispenser or as taken by the tracer. The Doctor’s phoropter doesn’t tilt, there is no wrap, just a bit of vertex. The phoropter is the same always and it is a perfect glass lens, the prescription is then written to this perfection.*
The perfect world - real world = compensated lens design. If the lens is put on at any point different then the phoropter the brain sees it differently. This is what the compensated design is working to calculate; factoring in personalized measurements creating a lens design that allows the brain to perceive the prescription as the phoropter looked, merging the perfect world into reality. Meaning it is fully customized to every frame trace, every measurement, and every patient.
