Blue Blocking options for (almost) everyone.

Blue light glasses are glasses that are specifically made to block or filter out blue light. Prairie Ophthalmics offers the following blueblocking technologies:

UV420: UV420 blocks up to 420nm of high energy blue light. This blueblocking technology is embedded into the lens and is not a coating. Only available in 1.60, 1.67, 1.74, also available in Camber lenses!

BluSelect: Available in all indexes. This blueblocking technology is embedded into the lens and is not a coating. Blocking up to 420nm of high energy blue light. Note that the 1.5 index option in this lens has a yellow discolouration, and although this is not optimal for some wearers it is a benefit to night driving.

BluQ: Available only in Quatrex. This lens blocks up to 420nm of high energy blue light. This blueblocking technology is embedded into the lens and is not a coating. These lenses will have a slightly blue tint.

iONBLU is a blue anti reflective coating and has all the benefits of iON2 with added blueblocking! It features blueblocking technology that is great to help the eye relax, for those that have light sensitivity, or those who prefer the aesthetics of a blue lens. iONBLU has all the durability, dust, oil, and water repelling effects of iON2 and features green AR on the backside of the lens to prevent back surface reflections from bouncing blue light into the eye. This coating blocks 435-465nm of high energy blue light. As this is an anti reflection coating it can be added to any lens including UV420, Bluselect, or BluQ lenses for extra protection. iONBLU also looks fantastic on the front surface of sunglasses or Transitions.

Blueblocking technology is not recommended for those who paint, graphic design, or work often with colours. Blue Blocking lenses help block halogen light, fluorescent lights and assists with those who have light sensitivity.
